Exclusive NFTs Distributed at Trump Meme Coin Gala Dinner

Attendees and registrants of the Trump meme coin gala dinner were rewarded with exclusive, limited-edition NFTs. These digital assets were categorized into three tiers based on attendees’ participation and their decision to retain their tokens during the event. The most sought-after tier, known as the “Diamond Hands” edition, is currently fetching impressive prices on the market, with reports of one selling for around $16,000. Guests at the Trump meme coin holders dinner last month received up to three NFTs, and even those who registered but did not make the top 220 list for attendance were allocated an NFT, with one fetching $4,000 in resale.

Questionable Utility Amidst NFT Transactions

Despite the notable sales figures, the NFTs lack any functional utility. The official Twitter account for the TRUMP meme coin referred to them as “historic collector’s items that celebrate the Crypto President.” As promised, participants in the “Dinner With Trump” had their $TRUMP NFTs delivered to their wallets. These NFTs are built on the Solana blockchain and are marketed as commemorative pieces honoring the so-called Crypto President.

Details of the Gala Dinner Event

The gala dinner, held in May, catered to the top 220 holders of the President’s official meme coin and took place at his National Golf Club in Washington, D.C. Outside the venue, over 100 demonstrators voiced their opposition, demanding an end to what they termed “crypto corruption.” Prominent U.S. Democrats voiced concerns that the event could possibly pave the way for foreign entities to exert political influence through the meme coin, yet the gathering proceeded without interruption. While some attendees enjoyed the hour spent with President Trump, others expressed disappointment over the lack of personal interaction and criticized the quality of the food served.

NFT Distribution Based on Attendee Participation

It took nearly two weeks for attendees to receive their exclusive NFTs, which were distributed based on the level of engagement with the meme coin. The “Power to the Holders” NFT was sent to 1,049 addresses, including those who registered but did not attend the dinner. The “Gold Gala Dinner” NFT was awarded to 219 attendees of the event. Lastly, 118 “Diamond Hands” NFTs were granted to those who maintained their token holdings throughout the dinner, as stated by the official Trump meme coin Twitter account.

Market Movements and Missed Opportunities

Individuals like Morten Christensen, the founder of AirdropAlert, capitalized on the opportunity by purchasing a significant amount of TRUMP tokens in the spot market to qualify for the dinner while simultaneously shorting the same amount to mitigate price volatility. Christensen sold their tokens before the event and later confirmed to Decrypt that they did not receive the coveted Diamond Hands NFT, although they did obtain the Power to the Holders and Gold Gala Dinner NFTs. Their decision to sell resulted in a missed opportunity, as a single Diamond Hands NFT sold for 99.9 SOL shortly after the dinner, representing a potential loss of $16,000.

Current Market Valuations for NFTs

In terms of market valuation, the Gold Gala Dinner NFT collection currently has a floor price of 48.15 SOL (approximately $7,700), while the Power to the Holders collection sits at a lower floor price of 7.6 SOL (around $1,200), based on data from Magic Eden. One user on X suggested that holders of the Diamond Hands NFTs should be invited for a round of golf at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort, to which the official TRUMP meme coin account enthusiastically responded, “that would be awesome.”
